INDEPENDENT THERAPIST
I am Julie and I am a counselor and art therapist. I attended Ursuline College and obtained my B.A. in Art Therapy and my M.A. in Counseling and Art Therapy. Creativity is something I try to incorporate into my practice even when doing traditional therapy. I primarily work with teens and adults but have experience in working with children as young as 5 years old. I have experience working with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Grief and Loss, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, LGBTQIA+ persons, and Life transitions and adjustments.
I create a positive, warm, safe, non-judgmental environment that helps build trust in the therapeutic relationship. Utilizing talk therapy and art therapy techniques to help promote self-esteem, resilience, problem solving and self-discovery throughout the process. I utilize a person centered approach meeting the person where they are and walking along side them through the process and guiding the course of treatment to help a person reach their goals in therapy.

Therapy is a powerful tool for supporting emotional and mental well-being. Just as we seek medical care when physical health concerns arise, our psychological health deserves the same attention and care. Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical strategies to navigate life's challenges.
With more than 30 years of experience across diverse behavioral health settings, I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, suicidal ideation, and non-suicidal self-injury. My practice is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I am Safe Space trained and an affirming ally of the LGBTQIA+ community. I provide inclusive, gender-affirming care and strive to create a welcoming environment where every individual feels respected, valued, and safe to be their authentic self.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process in which your voice, strengths, and goals are at the center. Every person's therapeutic journey is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. I work alongside each individual to develop meaningful goals, increase self-understanding, build on existing strengths, and develop practical skills for creating lasting, positive change.
My goal is to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and compassion—one where you feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout the process.
